The leather tiles from Enzo Pellini are made in such a way that anyone can install them. Each tile is equipped with double-sided tape on the back. Carefully remove the protective film to easily stick the tile on the wall. You can find more information about the installation here.
We recommend using a primer for good adhesion of our leather tiles to the wall. We offer primers in the same colour tones as our leather tiles. Leather is a natural product that may slightly warp as a result of temperature changes. This is nothing to worry about, but by matching the primer colour to the colour of the leather, any small gaps caused by shrinkage are hardly visible.
Before you start working with leather wall tiles, you should bear the following in mind:
- Acclimatising: Leather is a natural product. It is important that the leather tiles acclimate for at least 24 hours in the room where they will be used.
- Humidity: The ideal humidity in the room is between 40% and 60%.
- Temperature: The ideal room temperature when installing is between 18 and 22 degrees.
Attaching the leather tiles is very easy thanks to the double-sided tape on the back. We also recommend the following tools when installing our tiles:
- Spirit level
- Snap-off blade knife (Stanley knife)
- Tape measure
- Set square or ruler (at least 50 cm!)
- Cutting mat/pad
- Optional: a hand roller to press down the leather evenly
That greatly depends on the pattern that you have chosen. The leather wall tiles from Enzo Pellini are often placed horizontally. In that case, we recommend drawing a horizontal line through the centre point of the wall, using a spirit level and pencil. If you start sticking from this centre point, you can create a nicely balanced appearance.
If you opt for a vertical pattern, you should draw a vertical line through the centre point. Whatever pattern you choose, we recommend starting your installation from the centre. If you would like to know more about possible patterns, please click here.
Our leather tiles can be installed on a chimney breast provided that the wall does not radiate heat. Leather is a natural product and is therefore sensitive to temperature changes. Shrinkage may occur when the leather tiles come into contact with high temperatures.
Just like a normal wall, the leather tiles from Enzo Pellini require little attention. In the unlikely event of spillage on the wall, this can be removed by dabbing with a dry cloth. If a tile is seriously damaged, it can be replaced.
Enzo Pellini's leather is very flexible. You can easily fold it around a corner. Make sure that the leather tile is firmly attached to one side. You can then carefully fold the leather and stick it down the other side. Make sure that both sides have enough adhesive area so that a proper bond is created with the surface.
The leather is approx. 2 mm thick.
Leather wall tiles from Enzo Pellini are often used in kitchens. However, we advise against installing leather wall tiles behind the hob because of heat, dirt and humidity. The same applies to the sink because of potential water damage. Kitchens vary so much that the possibilities should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
